Pedestrian hit after 2:00 a.m. in North Carolina

A pedestrian in Charlotte, North Carolina, recently lost their life when they were hit by a car. The accident happened on I-85, in the southbound lanes, and it took place around 2:30 a.m.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol did report that the incident only took one life, and they did not say if anyone in the car was injured. They also did not say what the pedestrian was doing at the time or how they came to be in the I-85 traffic lanes.

However, as is often the case with accidents involving fatalities, more details may come out after an investigation. It may be difficult to sort through some of the details, though, since the pedestrian passed away in the crash.

The officials did close down the interstate for about three hours while they cleared the scene and investigated. It opened back up right around 5:30 a.m.

It's clear that pedestrians always face serious risks when they're near roadways, as even a crash at lower city speeds can be fatal. On an interstate with higher speed limits, the risk is even greater. This story also underscores some of the hazards of walking or running around traffic during the night, when it is very hard for drivers to see what is going on.

If you do get involved in an accident as a pedestrian, you may find yourself facing serious medical bills and other costs. You may even lose a loved one in a crash. At a time like this, it is more important than ever to know what legal options you have.
